The End of Suburbia is a must see documentary about peak oil, arguing that it spells a hard crash for the suburban dream. David Holmgren here offers a counterview, a vision of a radically retrofitted, food producing suburbia. David Holmgren is the co-originator of Permaculture. http://www.holmgren.com.au

Yeah, what if it's all a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing!?

It's kind of a crowded market with all the braniacs toting the enviro-leftist line, I know. Maybe someone mightaccidentally pick it up, and, I don't know, figure out that what they have been taught is complete bullshit?
Let me give you an example, granola cruncher. For the last thirty years, surface temperatures have significantly outpaced lower and mid-tropospheric temperatures from weather balloon and satellite data. That means there is no greenhouse effect! Look it up.

This static zero-sum worldview is really dangerous. I can't wait to finish my book savaging the environmentalist movement.

The radical change of suburbia is the beginning when the housing market crashes and people with a $400,000 mortgage live in a 100,000 house. These houses are also energy pigs compared to what they will need to be in the post peak oil era. Groups who can survive without much commuting could ban together to make these shelters usable again but not sure if there is enough land to provide the local food necessary. In our climate, greenhouses will become the norm. Localization hear we come.
