Providence and Worcester Ethanol Extra came this morning to New London, CT to retrieve ethanol loads headed for Motiva Enterprises in the Port of Providence in Rhode Island. The lead unit was working so hard flames were shooting out of the exhaust stack through Mystic, CT Amtrak Station. Also note the engineer blew the horn, and then realized that this was a quiet zone. Enjoy!

  • What is the white tanker car filled with

  • @Alanfung13 The B-series GE's like to do that. 3903 especially.

  • Holy ---- not the kind of thing you want to see on a "Bomb Train".... One spark and Kablooee!

  • Amazing catch man!

  • Always thought that freight trains did'nt go passed the New London bridge.. Nice surprise..

  • Sweet video!

  • why was it on fire a little spilled over fuel or something like that?

  • @BNSF2184 It mostly depends on the railroads specs for their locomotives and how well / often they maintain them. An EMD has 1 inverter per truck while a GE has 1 inverter per axle meaning that if an EMD loses a traction motor, the whole bogey locks and is junk, while a GE can lose a traction motor and still chug on without locking up or losing power to a bogey. GE's load faster than EMD's. Your talking to a Conductor here. Most of my RR friends say they love the GE over EMD. Just saying.

  • @nsrailfann4life91

GE's are still junk I know engineers on BNSF and CP. Hell CP ES44AC's w/ the desk controls are junk. The controls start rattling at speeds over 40. Theyre pulling capacity sux too. A reliable GE was the C30-7.

  • @ecoRfan True that. They have the older phase dash 8s that are similair to that of Conrail that NS has gotten ahold of. Yet, you see that NS has resolved most of the problems with those units by upgrading and properly maintaining them.
