Another wild camp on out on the waterways south of Sydney. A long first day with an 18 km paddle, but very secluded and worth it. The audio is slightly out for some reason, apologies. I ditched the two ended kayak paddle that came with the canoe and used a canoe paddle which kept me dry and once I got the hang of the J stroke all was good.

  • What tarp is that, if you don't mind me asking?

  • @buckmeyers The tarp used here is the Integral Designs siltarp 2(8x10)

  • Ha! Ha! Great little vid mate. I had to chuckle a bit when you mentioned "Bill Bryson" and his ventures on the ap. trail. I immediately paused the vid and fetched the book from my library, "A walk in the woods" by Bill. Half a world away,(Canada) and we have so many things in common. Whiskey and Ginger ale to be another!

Any crock's in your back yard there?

  • @kanukster Hey thanks very much mate, great minds think alike. We don't have any crocks down here thankfully . Canoeing around crocs, especially salters is a bit dodgy. All the best.

  • ive made a cross board for a kyack i had a couple years ago. It was a board with 2 3/4 holes at each end, then a rope could lash it into place. I then made a pole holder to bolt on place and set a pole out to troll a lure, while i paddle. This way theres a great chance youll have fish for lunch upon arrivale

  • @PHARRAOH thanks for the tip friend.

  • Hey mate where abots was this? struggling to find good places like this around sydney

  • great video!

  • ive heard of the book but didnt know it came in audio thanks. great trip you had. i will be going on a similar one soon... i have a double wide net bivy but without the floor may sew one in may not havnt decided.

  • Great video, looks like fun. You would think Bill Bryson hike most of the AT from how he writes, but if you actually look at the distances he didn't do much of it. I thru hiked in 2003 and he portrays it very well. Went to a Bryson reading a few weeks ago, he's more hilarious in person. I'm listening to 'In a Sunburned Country' now. Learning a lot about Australia. Cheers.
