@SunToy1 Haha, I still don't get it! Isn't that what the part you refer to as 'locking mechanism' is for?? Oh wait, is the ring meant to sort of cover up the ugliness of the locking mechanism? Is that it?

The ring at the bottom is to stop the ff operating while transported or shipped ane avoid it getting damaged on high seas!

Sorry, now i get it, the white ring is a double sided adhesive tape to stick the ff onto surfaces.
My wife has one stuck onto the dashboard of her car and gets frequent comments.
