i cleaned the MAF last night and its running better. i KNOW i need to get in there and replace spark plugs and wires but i'm dreading that task. just need to find the time

@gorillacar I cleaned the maf with brake cleaner, and i changed the spark plugs. I also seafoamed the intake But that didnt really make a difference

Im tellin u because ive gone through all that let the explorer warm up for like 10 minutes it will run better an it wont waste alot of gas change the maf sensor check the vacume hoses on mine the a top on the vacum was ripped i change it an the transmission it may not be leeking but it can be the transmission mohdule it sucks the transmission fluid an for u can get better acceleriation buy the stp fuel injector cleaner it saves gas an it gives u better acceleration u can buy it at auto zone
check your piston rings. you probably fried them, so the oil is leaking into the cylinder and getting pushed out of the exhaust.

@andymarsh11 Its not burning oil. It runs just fine now. I was missing a gasket between the maf sensor and the intake tube.
