Part 1 first! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXGGm4GQAq4
Crumbling domestic infrastructure. A bored, undisciplined population, demanding ever more wasteful and outrageous entertainments. Production exported to less developed countries, who then demand a share of the productivity. Rampant inflation eroding purchasing power. Democracy devolving into a totalitarian, repressive state. Division of the population into segments of extreme wealth and poverty. Hard work and merit no longer provide social mobility. Demands by other countries for self-determination and shared wealth are interpreted as a threat to super-power control. The flow of goods and resources is ensured by faltering military campaigns. Rebellion of subject nations, as the benefits of membership in the empire disappear. Sound familiar? Watch this video and compare it to the evening news. No? Maybe I'm mistaken.

Discovery Military Channel ran a three episode documentary on ancient Rome. This is part 2 of a summary of "The Fall of Rome" episode. I could not find a listing in their archives for this show.

  • that's because Christianity conquered Rome in a sense.

I don't like how the Christian Church had destroyed "demons", which were old pagan entities of antiquity and wonder. They also destroyed the Library of Alexandria, a store of a thousand years of ancient learning. Historians claim the entire western world was set back hundreds of years because of the colossal loss.

  • religion still blows

  • @studiousx3

    how so?

  • thanks for putting part No.1 in the description box.

    and thanks for the upload.

  • @MonaghanMan3000 Actually there's more evidence that Caesar himself caused the books of the Library to be destroyed during an attack on Alexandria. Though the Seraphim and presumeably the library itself were destroyed at a later date by a Christian mob, the books contained therein (and the knowledge of the ancients) seem neither to have been destroyed by Muslims or Christians.

  • The best part about YouTube is all the creative user names. Some of them are hilarious.

  • @MyMeatStick1 you forgot about the part where, when their insurance doesn't pay for the leg, you take the wooden leg and beat the person to death with it.

  • Yeah Chrisitanity saved Rome...in the same way cutting someones leg off and then giving them a shitty wooden peg saves someone.

  • Did they anybody realized that the Eastern Roman Empire which was predominately Christian stood still? Western Roman Empire had a very corrupted view of it though.

  • @MonaghanMan3000 Agreed.

The Romans before Christianity were vicious beings who disrespected women, the poor, and all those who didn't believe in many gods including wise philosophers. I don't like these types of documentaries either.

  • This is very historically inaccurate.
