Merchant service providers are pretty common as the banks leverage these 3rd party companies with existing sales organizations to recruit merchants on their behalf.

The majority of these merchant service provider companies have multiple services all the way from traditional merchant services such as terminals and accounts all the way through advanced solutions such as multiple internet merchant accounts and multiple gateway accounts.

The benefits for working with some of these larger companies is that there are often volume discounts that can be leveraged by new business owners to save some money on getting started.

These merchant service providers may also have free terminal programs that can be leveraged as well, especially for those business owners just starting up.
