Lost in Time returns with a review of the two-level demo of Titan A.E. for the PS1, the cancelled tie-in game based off the underrated animated production by Fox Animation Studios.

Does this long-forgotten demo deserve as much of a cult following as the movie it was based on?

Editor's Note:
Well, exams are finally done for this year and as a result I have a lot more time to work on videos. Horray.

This was a video I've been working so hard to finish in the last two weeks following my exams and I was able to accomplish my goal of finishing it by the end of the month.

The editing might seem a little rushed in places, despite some last minute polishing, but hey at least it's better than the crap I made in '08 and '09 that a lot of people like for whatever reason.

As always, enjoy!

  • Great video! I must say, this game is certainly odd... for a demo to be released but for the game not to be. Pretty crazy! You know, I think a prototype for this popped up somewhere, but I don't remember where I read about it.

Thank you! I also recall reading about a prototype for this game (I think it was on Unseen64), I believed it consisted of the same levels featured on this demo, but through a bit of hacking, someone managed to progress to another level that was hiding in the game's data files, or something. I don't think it was released to the online community, but I could be wrong.

  • Great movie.

  • I didn't even realise they cancelled this game until about 4 years after they did! i can remember playing the demo on the UK Official Playstation Magazine demo disc!. I've still got it somewhere

  • @zonic94 Hello, using john doom I was able to unlock 5 levels of the game which is awesome! At the moment, Im a little bit past where the demo ends. I love this game so much!

  • @zonic94 yeah, that one wa me xd

  • Hah, fantastic stuff, how crazy :) I was the lead programmer on the exploration section of this game, I actually left console dev after it got canned because I was so disappointed. We put a tonne of work into getting it ready, but internal politics at Fox led to it being canned a handful of months before release. Crazy. Thanks for the kind words! :)

  • I used to have the VHS for this movie, but lost it... so I didn't see the movies for years, until they put it on Netflix instant streaming! Definitely one of my favorite animated movies of all-time. I wish the game had been fully released, because it looks like one of the better movie tie-ins. This video is awesome.

  • Definitely a great shame that this never saw a full release: I was surprised at how low the box office was for the film, too, and this just adds to the tragedy. Fantastic video as always, thank you for posting (and for the important history lesson... more people should watch the film)!
