This is a video of one of the librarians announcing the closing of the Alkek Library at Texas State University - San Marcos, TX. The announcement is made over the Simplex Fire Alarm Voice Evacuation System (not 100% of the model number)

  • I am so loving the fact that you posted this. He is a cool kid but some days he does sound nerdier. I actually spoke to his boss and said, ummm could the announcements be a little quieter? They're freaking loud and distorted at times. LOL I am so mean.

  • I glad the announancements were loud because when I was in the private study rooms on the 5th (?) floor I am either listening to something on the laptop or too focused to hear anything else.

  • we have the same system thinger where i work (a hospital) and they made the first announcement and it freaked me out...i didnt even know that existed. when we heard the Ding Ding we all looked at each other with the what the hell was that look

  • LOL!

I was scared by it too the first time I heard it!

I thought SWEET A FIRE!!! SO I pulled out the camera and thought this was better than nothing!!!!

  • if you wanted fire alarm action, you should've been in the bathrooms at he Crate & Barrel where i was yesterday, i accidentally sprayed some disinfectant spray into an EST smoke detector, and heard the Genesis horn/strobe for the first time. good news is, i didn't get busted. bad news is, i feel like i did it purposefully, thus feeling incredibly guilty.

  • uhhhh...your confession and honesty is appreciated and as the manager of Crate and Barrel I thank you! (J/k :p)

  • I like the Simplex "pre-alarm" chime that they used before the announcement. Thank God it wasn't followed by a slow whoop!

  • @Hobbymaster1000 Yes, it was a guy talking.

  • I know how to do that.

  • Woe!

  • 44 seconds later.....

  • The model number is a Simplex 2902-9734 Life-Alarm Speaker.

  • lmao!!!

  • Announcement is at 0:44.

  • Judging by the speakers used, I'd say the original panel (if it's not still used) is/was either a 2001 with some voice-evac add on or a 2120
