Bill Trost, designer, shows off the latest application from The Blimp Pilots, creators of Koi Pond, the #1 iPhone application of 2008.

Distant Shore is a virtual beach that you can endlessly wander and a new style of casual social network. By collecting seashells, you earn bottles. You can then compose a message, stuff it into the bottle and launch it into the sea. Eventually, your bottle will wash up upon someone else's Distant Shore where they can read your message and reply to it if it is something they like! Distant Shore is a new and beautiful way to relax and meet new people from all over the world.

It's been a few days now and I'm still excited to use this app. Though, I do wish there to be new updates in the near future. No rush, but there's still a lot of potential left!

I really wish that this app has some form of update since the iPhone 4 was released. Notifications, app switching, there's a lot of promise!

I think if the other person still has a message from you they can send one back, but if both of you clear your inbox I don't think its possible to send a message back to them.

I just downloaded it from the app store and it's great :) I'm still waiting for replies, but it's still exciting :) Ive found 3 messages already, but really, messaging one or two people is fine, as long as you've got a good topic and are talking with a good person.

Does anyone know if say, you and someone were messaging each other, but then one of you deletes all the messages. Will the other person still be able to reply to you and message you? What if they were able to reply but since you deleted all you guys's messages, you won't be able to receive it?

i think it's happened to me before. Well, if your iPod is not connected to an internet server, then you can't send a message to other people. You have to connect to the internet using wi-fi, just like how you would if u wanted to use iTunes and the App store on your iPod.
