In reality, these whips had all its nine sections embedded with edges.
EMBEDDED, not attached. If it's attached, the whip would cut itself...
This way, you can wrap the enemy, and pull, to mutilate the enemy's skin.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, though.
But most prefer not to use the knife whips, as many could not master it.
