I keep calling her "Rosie".. but I think that is her cousin's name.

A lot of people are becoming angry/defensive with this. Let me get this straight; you are DEFENDING the right for a little girl to sing "when he gimme that look, then my panties coming off"? Do you know that pedophiles use the internet, too?

I realize that most people responding in an angry way likely have children of their own that they allow listen to these things. The evidence is here (whether you choose to look or not) and getting upset at me for conveying the work of thousands of PhD professionals is a bit pointless... especially since personal attacks and biased opinion with no information gets us nowhere.

I don't know these parents personally and I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they just don't know what damage this could do.

My opinion comes from years of experience working with children in the "system" as well as schooling in psychology. I have also read many articles on the subject by PhD professionals. Here are a few of them;

  • You are just julius that you didn't meet nikki minaj and need to stop talking about them

  • @jasminearrant you are dead on... I'm totally "julius".

    Orange Julius.

  • The lyrics are dirty, and she does sing a few lines of it. However, I think the argument should be less about 'starving the internets pedos' and more about ourselves. You seem worried that her quick comment about her panties are going to be the cause of a pedophile armaggedon. We watch it, listen to it, love it. No reason to think Sophia Grace doesn't aspire to, and need, the right models; as long as she entertains us, it's all jesus--the sick part. The many standards of human nature.

  • @ocod1 I appreciate your opinion, but I have yet to find one single professional article that supports that lyrics do not affect children. Whether we realize it or not at the time, it does.

My biggest problem is that society is lowering it's bar based on what the media throws at us. They throw more sex? Cool, let's let kids rap incredibly racy songs until it finally screws her up internally because we're too lazy to filter what she listens to.

  • u said wat i thought as soon as i sae the video of the two girls singing. kids that age should be singin barney songs or elmo. thats why there are 9 year old pregnant kids in this world...

  • @TheDefault42069 totally agreed. A 10 year old just gave birth in Russia.

I look at it this way; think of the most well off, well functioning, well raised child and family that you know....

Do their parents let them listen to or sing this?

I have worked with children for just about 9 years and I have never, NEVER been allowed to let any child listen to things like this.

If the professionals (the ones who know childcare best) don't let us do it... why would everyone else think it's fine?

  • Watching those kids they still seem a little innocent and childish, like they should be. I'm not saying music doesn't affect kids, cause I know that it does, but they seem fine at the moment. I think the fame is what's going to take them, not the music.

  • agreee

  • COULD NOT AGREE MORE!! I wish more people could see things this way. I am the biggest advocate of letting kids be kids. I have 5 kids ranging from 14 yrs old to 8 months and it makes me sad to hear what they hear on a daily basis at school...and from kindergarten!! :O(

  • Thanks for the links to the webistes! I am doing an essay on how music and lyrics have a negative effect on children and how the singers themselves further this negative effect! They will be really useful!

I agree with what you say, i don't like Nikki Manaj at all or much modern music to be honest.

When i saw the video of the girls singing I was disgusted, the song isn't what young children should be listening to, let alone singing.

  • You're right. I liked the video cas damm they are cute as heck but in the long run or specifically for these girls and as a whole it is wrong and not good.
