Horse Packing Trip #1

Whew, did we learn alot! Thanks to John at the Kelsay Valley trailhead that taught us how to throw a double diamond hitch! It cut our pack up time in half. The lake is Maidu Lake in the Umpqua National Forest in Oregon. Thanks to Jan Forbes for buying the mosquito head nets (the mosquitos were terrible!!!). We could have sold them, probably because they look so fashionable. We decided to call ourselves the "It's Never Too Late Packers". We are already planning the next trip. Too fun (and a bit of work also....)

@mareerb Good luck. We sure had fun. We have tried for the last 3 years to get it together to go again, but parts of the section of the Pacific Crest Trail that we planned to pack were on fire 2 years, and our little group didn't get all the horses in shape last year. Maybe this year!

I love it, its what my husband and I want to do when we retire, we have three donkeys who will be in training to pack and we are hiking the Allegheny trail in WV 330 miles. This is still a few years off but we are counting down. In the mean time we will do smaller trails.

Good for you! one of my girlfriends and I did our own solo women's pack trip last summer in Yellowstone. Go Girls!!!!! We can pack too.
