how do you apply the graphite ?

Remove the seals. Heat up the bearing to about 150 deg to loosen up the grease some. I use acetone to soak them. Then blow them out with air. Soak again. Then use WD40 heavily. Blow out and soak in acetone and blow out till dry.
The grease tends to reside in the bearing cage, this should remove just about all of it. Then apply some graphite powder in the bearing. I used an aluminum shaft in my cordless drill that fit the inside the inner race and held the outer race by hand to wok it in.......

....Apply pressure by hand to work the graphite in for a few min. then blow out excess. Apply more graphite and work again and blow out again. Some bearings once dry are tight, even from the same lot, and they may not get any looser with the graphite. If that is the case, try another that is a bit loose and you will have a winner. After it may sound a bit gritty but will run like a charm. =]
