He was in Wearside to promote the work of his Sports Foundation, visiting Castle View school for an indoor-rowing competition and then went on to take on youngsters at the Puma tennis centre.
Say what you like about him, but I think the sports foundation is a good thing. A few of my friends have been through it and are now qualified coaches and of course it's getting the kids involved too. They should go down to the rowing club at South Hylton and row on the Wear!
