In the 1950's and early 60's there was little or no abortion or unwed mothers. Also little or no birth control. Teens didn't seem to have as much sex. Why?
The use of contraceptives was supposed to eliminate teen pregnancies and unplanned parenthood in these modern times. Women are using the Pill in droves. Men are using condoms. So...why haven't the rates of illegitimacy gone down instead of up? Now we have lots of BC but lots of abortions and unwed mothers. Why is that?

You could fit Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire in any one of the red states you mentioned escept maybe Mississippi. While I'm sure their rates are based on percentages in an attempt to be legitimate, but more people means a greater likelyhood of any demographic. All four of the higher rate states you mentioned also have a much higher population of illegal immigrants. They need that anchor baby you know.

According to The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy (which cites Guttmacher), among states that rank highest in teen pregnancies are: New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Mississippi (ranked first, second, third, fourth, and fifth respectively). Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire have the lowest rankings. There are outliers, of course, but it seems that red states tend to have higher teen pregnancy rates than do blue ones.

You failed to see the irony. We had 8 years with an administration that believed that abstinence should lead any sex education classes. An administration comes in that doesn't, and teen pregnancy rates go up. That alone seemes to negate your idea that teens won't listen about abstinence.
Liberals DO hate the very mention of abstinence. Immoral behavior and unreliable birth control helps keep them in power with hundreds of thousands of single teen mothers out there dependent on them.

@jtkirkfan2002 Liberals don't hate any mention of abstinence, afaik. They simply realize that abstinence is is not going to be practiced by most teens - it's unrealistic. And they are right.
