Pat Spillane - Team of the Decade

Kerry footballing legend Pat Spillane proclaims Kerry to be the team of the decade after Tyrone's defeat to Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final in 2009. Tyrone had three All-Ireland titles and Kerry four yet pundits were proclaiming Tyrone as the best team of the noughties. When Cork beat Tyrone it confirmed Kerry's status as team of the decade and a few weeks afterwards Kerry beat Cork in the All-Ireland final to rubberstamp their status as undisputed champions of the decade with 5 All-Ireland titles.

Kerry absolutely hate Tyrone lol Kerry are a bunch of cry babies they wouldn't take their defeats like men! The word Tyrone will always stick in the back of their throats - Kerry can only beat the 'bottlers' of the GAA world ie Cork and Mayo lol Kerry will always be reminded of how they couldn't beat that Tyrone side - it's a real sore point with those Kerry fellows!

I completely Agree, Kerry are top class and you prove that every year...

However, Spillane is a horrible, anti-Ulster gobshite who seems to hate his fellow Irishmen up here in Ulster, we are all Irish, we all love Gaelic football, so why the stupid hatred? We all fly the tricolour.

He speaks with horrible disgust when he talks about Ulster.

It was a crime to fly the tricolour here in Ulster during the 1970's-1990's, yet we didn't give up on Ireland, Kerry included...

@cullinaneireland Well considering there are only 13 teams that even play for the hurling title its a hell of a lot easier for Cork to look good at hurling. And out of those 13 Laois, Wexford, Carlow, Antrim, Offaly and Clare are all hopeless. The hurling championship is pathetic.

with respect to tyrone, however they do it on a head to head against us, team of the decade is based on consistancy as well as winning all irelands. even the great kerry team of the 80s could never do 6 finals in a row. I like tyrone they brought some of the best players through in the last 10years, but hands down kerry are the team of the decade and look right now........another final in 2011. KERRY ABÚ!

look im a cork man mad for the gaa and all but when it comes to gaa in cork it will always be hurling. the footballers always underacheiv or are just plain shyt and iv no problem saying that but in saying that kerry do run away with themselves
