SynthStation49 is the most advanced, intuitive music controller designed specifically for use with the iPad or iPad 2 and the first true iPad performance tool for musicians. Working seamlessly with Akai Professional's heralded SynthStation software, SynthStation49 provides unparalleled music creation capabilities, including direct in-app MIDI recording from its velocity-sensitive keyboard, nine MPC-style drum pads and array of transport controls. In addition to its integration with the SynthStation app, SynthStation49 is also completely iOS CoreMIDI compatible, making it instantly compatible with dozens of music apps already in the App Store and hundreds more on the way.

  • I think the good lord could come to earth and make a pro device out of solid gold and people on the internet could still find something wrong with it. Akai, I think this device is pretty darn cool and I've been waiting to purchase one for my studio and for home and would gladly pay much more than your current price. I am an Emmy winning (and working) music and film producer and I find myself integrating music I create on the iPad into my production workflow. When will it finally be released?

  • @fixxman1000 Glad your pumped! Also, congrats on your achievements. As of now we do not have an exact date but you are welcome to join us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates on releases.

  • @FRB1420 Just my bad Karma sometimes, you know :)

  • @FRB1420 Some really good points you have there. I see that we share and I've been very glad to hear what you had to say.

My frustration must have come in great part from my lack of creativity these last months.

"Be lazy and blame the whole world for not doing anything of your life". - Ya know :)

Thank you for all your time...

I will keep the "Next level" thing as a guideline to think of the developping iPad ecosystem.

Better lookat it from the bright side, you're right.

  • @KaersonTV There are some good apps for making beats on the iPad. And the iPad is made to do everything a computer does, just in a different way. But yeah, Akai's product line is definitely going downhill.

  • @AndroidLife And one more thing - the Akai SynthStation app is still a terrible app, even with the hardware. The interface is terrible, it's extremely badly organized and unintuitive, and the synths are drums just don't sound that good. Akai is a company famous for hardware, not software.

  • @AndroidLife Akai didn't kill the "nomad" aspect, they just created a device for people who want to take iPad music creation to the next level. Some of the iPad music apps are really fantastic, and it seems like a waste to just play them with a non velocity sensitive touch screen keyboard. They're not stopping you from producing on a train.

  • @AndroidLife The Alesis IO Dock is an awesome product, don't get me wrong, but it's a completely different product than the SynthStation. It's simply a dock full of audio ins and outs while the SynthStation 49 is an iPad-optimized MIDI controller complete with keys, pads, and controls. It really depends on what your needs are. As for waiting for the product to improve, I'm not sure exactly what you're waiting for there. It has pads, keys, and transport controls - I'm not sure what else you want.

  • @AndroidLife The Korg iKontrol is not an audio production app, it's a controller for the Monotribe. Korg openly states that if you read the description. That's like saying Apple is "milking customers" because you have to have an iPad to make use of an iPad Smart Cover.

  • Wow akai are really shit now.. who the fuck would make beats on an iPad??? It's not even made for it...
