Documentary on Echo and the Bunnymen that was played on British TV in November 2001. This is part 4 of 4. Visit http://www.villiersterrace.com for more Bunnymen goodness.
@ljpw93 heard the bunny men live from the start of the band seen them countless times even when they were rehearsing in Brian's dinner, Ian's voice is shit these day unfortunately and for that reason I stop myself from going to see them any more !
it not just the voice itself it's the phrasing that has changed (a bit american dare I say it! never stap!!) - still great though and still just about the coolest bloke on the planet
His voice was Spot On in 1996 on the Burned Tour in Austin TX. And afterwards he signed 19 of my vinyl record covers I'd collected and talked to me as nice as can be without a hint of annoyance. Truly a class act. And as far as his voice, he may not be able to hit Porcupine heights but he did Siberia BEAUTIFULLY.
Ian's voice has not changed - it has evolved to exactly where it is supposed to be....granted, giving up smoking would definitely have an effect, even so - still the best band on the planet...and Ian is still quite beautiful so see and hear...

Wow he managed to make "Never Stop", one of their most urgent and exciting songs, sound like the soundtrack to a coma.

Yep, all that smoking has taken a toll on his voice.

"Coasting" is exactly how I'd describe it. That performance of "Rescue" took about twice as long as on their LP.
My admiration is for what was not what is...
