Here it is, my very first race in iRacing... exiting the pits for warmup... and getting rear-ended. Noting like a 4x within the first 15 seconds of my iRacing career.

The driver that hit me will remain anonymous. It's a rookie race after all, and that's the place to make your mistakes. I'm sure it was just an honest lapse of concentration.

  • welcome to iRacing :D that kind of thing will happen a lot in Rookie series.

But to be fair. i think Laguna Seca has the hardest pit exit of any circuit, i still have trouble getting around that pit exit turn. lol

  • Yeah, it's a really narrow exit and dropping tires can throw you out onto the track.

But like I said, it's not really a big deal, and I'm not down on the guy that hit me... shit happens.

It was just ironic that iRacing's SR system is specifically to create safer driving conditions with real consequences for making mistakes, yet within the first mile on track I get caught up in exactly the sort of thing that the SR system is supposed to prevent.

  • Ohhhh how I love Laguna. It's easy to spot the noobs (a.k.a. the ones to avoid during the race) just coming out of the pits. :P

  • Bad luck. First time I left the pits in test mode, even though I just wanted to memorize the track, cruise around, you know, I've gone off track and spun, it's really not a line you would expect from coming out of the pits. Other than that, Laguna Seca is a pretty decent track, but I miss the trees and the grass so much. C3PO too would say: It's a desolate place! :D

    Safe racing, cheers!

  • @dzim Daytona is similar, and if youre accelerating fast there is a small bump which can send you into a wall

  • one of my first expiriecnces was getting rammed by a person passing me and both of us getting knocked out of the race Im pretty sure he did it on purpose

  • Daytona road got difficult pit exit too, and I think most dangerous is charlotte road pit exit because you exit right in the middle of T1 and even if you slow down and use the full lock of the wheel you still get to the inside of the next corner blocking the coming traffic.
