Performing in November 1984 at San Francisco's I-Beam; Lauren Agnelli, Tom Goodkind, Bruce Paskow with Tom's brother James Goodkind on percussion did not expect this sold out crowd. The Washington Squares, a popular '80s folk group often featured on MTV began touring the country soon after. With the music industry concentrating on disco and high tech rock, the Squares would not appear on album for 3 more years.
The San Francisco Chronicle's popular Sunday Pink Section featured a photo of the Squares performing at Irving Plaza with Allen Ginsberg. Word of the Squares' coming made them the toast of the town. Beat poet and publisher, Lawrence Ferlinghetti held a party for the Squares at his City Lights book store. Soon after the Squares were invited to Enrico's, the location of the original Hungry-I of Kingston Trio fame, where they dined with Mort Saul and met Enrico.
I love this. Where is the rest of it??

Fun, I saw them in concert in Athens, GA when I went to UGA. Loved them then.

Hee! I saw these guys in the Silver Dollar Club in Toronto back in the late 80s. This is great. :)

I hate that I didn't find out about this band soon. It's like Peter Paul and Mary combined with punk!
