A giant Russian-built Mil 8 helicopter is needed to lift a 4 tonne replica of the wooden framing for the winding gear at the top of Butler's Incline. Butler's is one of three linked inclines that served gold mines on the slopes of Mount Te Aroha in New Zealand's north island. Once the frame was in place, the original winding gear itself was lifted on top of it - not without some moments of drama !
