Three Basin Electric employees, as well as the cooperative itself, were recognized by the Lignite Energy Council during an awards luncheon on Oct. 7.
Basin Electric was one of eight organizations recognized with the Community Service Award for supporting the Roughrider Honor Flight.

Daryl Hill, Basin Electric media relations supervisor, received the Distinguished Service Award -- Public Relations Program. As a cooperative spokesman, Hill has been interviewed by national media outlets like the New York Times and the History Channel. He also coordinates Basin Electric's popular tour program.

Jim Sheldon, Basin Electric mechanical engineer II, received the Distinguished Service Award -- Research and Development. Sheldon is part of the team that is studying the potential for a carbon capture demonstration project at Basin Electric's Antelope Valley Station.

Lyle Witham, Basin Electric manager of environmental services, received the Distinguished Service Award -- Government Action Program. Basin Electric's Dale Niezwaag accepted the award on Witham's behalf.
