@mrkingid ..... the size of portrait which he was drawing was larger than the size of face he was being able to see from that distance ...... from binoculars he got help that -> whatever size he see thru binoculars , he just copied it ...... else if he would not be using binoculars ... he would have to approximates size ratios of nose eye etc. .... so that would not be so accurate :)

@thedankinfidel I have a reducing glass, which looks like single lensed magnifying glass, only it reduces. Looking through it is like getting up and viewing your work from a distance. I'm guessing that what he's holding are reducing binoculars, a deluxe version of what I have. The reducing glass is handy, but it makes your work appear more dimensional than it really does. It flatters a lot.
