That french horn is just fantastic. Makes me wish I was still good at it

@achantus1 yes!! I agree 100% with you there! The soul of the music is from the 18th century, and in that time all the operas were visually set in the 18th century too (they didn't even try to set it in the time of Julius Caesar) .. modernist settings for me just do not match the music whatsoever .. does anyone know why the one guy is wearing a skirt, no top and a leopard-skin jacket? it is completely ridiculous ..

a featured video... as it ought to be!

By far one of the most excellent performance of this aria in relation to the singer (Scholl), the costumes and setting - it is a package which all comes together to make something that is without a doubt nothing but superb.

I have high hopes for this production (which I haven't seen in full yet). I love updatings, but I hate updatings which try to be modern and traditional at the same time (i.e. The Met's Faust which is in 1945 in USA but has the soldiers wearing 1800 French uniforms, or Glyndebourne's Giulio Cesare, set around 1900 but which has Cesare (Sarah Connolly) wear a full Greek armor plate). This one seems to be a thorough, well-done updating. Plus it's Andreas Scholl!!!

@DiVeronica I am neither a moron nor a a troll. I have a very different opinion to yours. And it's not up to you to decide, what I comment about a video on Youtube.

@Tanechka80 you're either a troll or a moron, or perhaps most likely both at once. in any case, don't waste our time with your foolishness.

The tempo is ferfect. Scholl is perfect. But all this modernistic crap? Wagners Walkuries are now always portraied as motorcyclists. Original? No! Oh, how I long for a more genuine performance. That would be a sensation in these days. Back to the sources, please! Singers with wigs!
I'm pretty sure faster tempo was set to suit brilliant singer, maestro Scholl. Stunning performance.
