At an age of 18 Humphrey Bogart followed his love for the sea and enlisted in the United States Navy in the spring of 1918 during World War I. Bogart is recorded as a model sailor who spent most of his service in the Navy after the Armistice was signed, ferrying troops back from Europe. After his naval service, a seaman second class, with a bronze Victory Medal Bogart joined the US Naval Reserve.
In 1941 Bogie was voluntary qualified for the US Coast Guard Auxiliary of Southern California and turned up unfailingly on weekends to patrol the channels off the cost on his 38-foot, diesel-powered "Sluggy".
In late 1945 Bogart bought his beloved 55-feet yawl "Santana". He was a passionate and highly experienced yachtsman and took first in his yacht's class in the San Clemente Island Race of 1950 and first in the 1952 Channel Islands Race.
@MrAlphacenturi, you are right, but we should give the younger folks a clear idea that classic movies were the classic ones not because they are old, but because they are good. And older people are sometimes so grateful to watch the favorite scenes from the movies of their youth. That simple, isn't it? It worth it, Sir.

@MrAlphacenturi, I didn't know about Flynn. Thank you for your agreement to put this video as response to your two fantastic uploads from the NBC broadcast (January 1957). The young folks need to know about the glory past, about Bogart and his generation of classy actors.
