AKUS guitarist/vocalist Dan T performs the famous murder ballad with help from Jerry Douglas and the Transatlantic Sessions house band. Recorded in rural Scotland, UK.
@sinjin480 I prefer to call it's arrangement "polished" rather than commercial or over-produced. It's recorded to take advantage of the various musicians available and add a bit of Celtic flavour.
I wouldn't say 'Commercial', that's what it isn't, but perhaps a bit over orchestrated. You have to admit though, it does sound good. When you think about it, what you said (and I am not disagreeing with) is that you don't like it because is sounds too good! Lol.
Too much commercial in this old folk melody. I guess you could say it's a bit too refined and processed for my tastes. Kind of a modern country twang....which I really don't like. Call me old fashioned.

@MrJdill85 Yeah, 3/4 time. Waltz time. Could also be felt in 6/8. Same thing.
