Twenty years ago to the date, Earvin "Magic" Johnson announced his retirement from the NBA after discovering he contracted the HIV virus. Today, he is set to announce new initiatives for his foundation that aims to educate the community on HIV/AIDS prevention.

The NBA All-Star shocked the world during a news conference in Los Angeles in 1991, saying he would have to retire from his Hall of Fame career to deal with the HIV virus.

And, just like that day 20 years ago, Magic will appear in another press conference but with a more positive message. The Magic Johnson Foundation will be celebrating it's 20th anniversary at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this afternoon. The foundation set to launch their initiative "Point Forward Day", a national day of awareness and action to celebrate 20 years of impact.

Magic will most likely speak on the importance of the organization he founded as well as his twenty year battle with the HIV virus.
