The Icla da Silva Foundation helps those in need of bone marrow transplant. It is the largest recruitment center for the national marrow registry in the United States.
In 2009 alone, it recruited more than 38,000 potential bone marrow donors to the Be The Match registry, with a special focus in minority communities such as Latin and African Americans.
The Foundation was created in the memory of 13-year-old Brazilian girl named Icla, who passed away fighting leukemia.
