Bowler Hat Rag played by Max Keenlyside & Will Perkins

Another couple of teenagers, and a couple of YouTubers, "ragtimemax" and "wilscool" played their first duets together Friday afternoon during the 2009 West Coast Ragtime Festival. There were some bumps in the road, like one near the end here, but all in all it was great.

Will, on the right, takes the lead on "Bowler Hat Rag" which Max composed in 2006 with Mattias Högberg. The sheet music can be purchased from http://www.authenticragtime.com both as a single score or as part of a folio of Max's compositions.

I can agree that Max is good but without the original composer, Mattias Högberg, this performance is missing someting very important.

They're still fresh off dirt roads but turnin' into city slickers. When I hear this I think I am seeing a Manhattan Parade, Sunny Skies in the Park, Driving a Pierce Arrow, Listening to a nine foot Ampico and Viewing a Tudor Mansion--all at once. What a composition! What a duet! We want more Ragtime! More Duets! More Keenlyside Ragtime compositions! And hey, Willscooling, of late, on the piano, has made him into a first rate Klavierspieler! We crave More, More....MORE!
