The Power Loader from Aliens is plainly visible in the background at the beginning of this video as an artifact (the Colonial Marines' assault rifle also appears in the background in this level). Considering Capcom made an arcade game adaptation of Alien Vs. Predator a year prior to this game, I assume they were dropping hints of doing a Super NES port of AVP.
