@Moosiepoohkitty1 Actually it does happen. Just because Mythbusters failed to do it doesn't mean it's impossible. It happened at the United States Air Force Academy in June 1968. Just google "usafa flyover breaking windows" for pictures and accounts.

It's not supersonic. It comes close, he's probably pushing .9 Mach on this one, but nevertheless I give you a thumbs up for a cool video.

Well, do they make exceptions? What constitutes a "populated area"? I went to the airshow at Edwards AFB on the 50th anniversary of Chuck Yeager where he (and some young guy) deliberately flew supersonic both days in a row, to celebrate. I can believe what you said about shattering all the windows though. The first day he was pretty damn high, I don't know how many thousands of feet, but it still created a PAINFULLY loud sonic boom. He made sure to be higher the 2nd day.

@MGOBLUE747 Actually you should get your facts straight. Although this isn't supersonic, windows DO NOT shatter just because of a supersonic pass. Check mythbusters episode regarding details.
It's a complete myth about windows being blown out. Pure bullshit.

first, it is highly illegal to fly supersonic in a populated area, second, if he was going super sonic, the sonic boom would shatter all the windows on those boats. At that altitude, people would also bleed from the ears if he was 700+kts

@MGOBLUE747 Thank you for clarifying this issue. I've been waiting for someone to shed some light on whether or not this is really supersonic or .99 mach.
