  • Hey Dustin, just dropping by to say that I may not comment on your youtube or fishtanktv site. But, I watch and read everything you guys put on there. You've help me out very much so over the past year. And next week when my fiance goes on vacation, BOOM! my 55 planted tank is going dirt!!!!

  • @willywalken you don't gotta say much man, I'm glad you are learning from me and the tribe of fishtank people... haha. LOVE it when you get away with no women around fishtankery... haha, i dirted in an hour! youtube search that...."dirt a planted tank in an hour"

  • hate to say I Told You So about mosquito fish. by the way any single adult in mosquito fish in population can live a couple of years. they get pregnant onece a month or so.. your bosemani rainbows wont make a dent in your mosquito fish population.

  • @iyuriy3 i deserve it man! nah, i have confidence. im slowly netting them out and havethe rainbows. I'd get an oscar if i knew i could sell/ giveit back...

  • Snakes will get them as well. Kid you not. BTW if you put a rubber snake on the edge of your pond it might keep the heron away. Good thing for you there are enough live plants for them to hide. I know someone who got cleaned out by a heron in a small pond.

  • maybe u should put a net to put over your pond so they cant get to them

  • @Dustinsfishtanks

Considering what you thought about herons getting to you goldfish, I believe you’d mess up your pants if an Oscar fell into the pond :)

If you had a big pond, I think the best solution would be to look for Gambusia’s natural predators.

Net them out while you feed them. They’ll come up and you’ll just scoop them out. Goldfish and bosemani may get in the way. that's the best way i can think of it.

    good luck.

  • that's why I'm scared of fishes outdoor lol

  • @Dustinsfishtanks cut an opening into the wood near where your tall plants are so its missing a small part of the end near them and then just cut the mesh/chicken wire to fit so it will just slide into the notch like opening.

  • why dont you get a pond net for the top of the pond? idk if it will work

  • @Bazil1869 not really tons of plants...
