100 mile house is preparing for a busy year as the rootsy husband and wife duo of Peter Stone and Denise MacKay along with multi-instrumentalist Scott Zubot release their new self-recorded album 'hollow ponds'. The album carries the theme of both escape from and back to the places they knew when they were young, but also brings with it the hope that comes with finding a new place to call home.
Using a wide palette of instruments, from a 100 year old pump organ to a make shift choir of family and friends, the new album is the work of a band that have put all they have into every note. With a timeless sound full of sincerity, 'hollow ponds' holds nothing back.
2010 was a year that saw 100 mile house come to life, after releasing their debut album 'from fall to fall' at the end of 2009 they have gone on to create a name for themselves in Western Canada and further a field.
With radio play on CBC, CKUA, CJSR and charting on local and college radio stations across Canada, the increasingly popular band has been busy. Since the release of 'from fall to fall' 100 mile house have performed at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in association with Alberta Foundation for the Arts, have taken the stage at the infamous Canmore Folk Festival and recently played the Transcanada Alberta Music Series in Calgary as well as winning the Calgary Folk Festival 'Pro's and Prose' Songwriting Contest. With the regular addition of Tom Murray on bass and Tyrn Armstrong on drums the trio are looking to build on the success of their first album.
With a 2 week Western Canada tour, various summer festival appearances including the Calgary Folk Festival and a trip to Toronto for NXNE, 100 mile house is a band you're sure to hear more of.
