"Reflections on a Journey of Faith"

In the Seventh Annual Poehler Lecture on Faith and Learning, Dr. Herman K. Wentzel, drawing on his 47 years of experience as a Christian educator, will set forth the basis in faith for all of our activities at a Christian university. Noting especially "the context of the Christian Gospel," he will emphasize the centrality of the university's mission in all its programs and activities. Wentzel will share his observations as this years honoree of the Poehler Lecture Series on Monday April 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the Buenger Education Center. The lecture is an annual event designed to explore how faculty connect their Christian faith with their academic discipline. Speakers are selected based on excellence in their academic discipline and maturity in their Christian faith.

This years honored speaker, Dr. Herman Wentzel, is a professor emeritus of Education and Psychology. He received his bachelor's degree at Concordia College, River Forest, Ill.; his M.A. from the University of Minnesota; his Ed. D. from Columbia University, New York; and a certificate in College and University Administration from the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. He was awarded the honorary LL.D. by Concordia College, Bronxville, New York. At Concordia University, St. Paul, Wentzel taught in the Education department and served on an interim basis as vice president for Academic Affairs, executive vice president, and president. He also was active on many committees and in faculty development projects, including leading six seminars on college teaching for his colleagues. The campus community is encouraged to attend this thought-provoking and enriching annual event.

The Poehler Lecture Series is funded by charitable gifts from Ted Trembath, and Robert and Elisabeth Trembath, and through contributions from other benefactors.
