Thanks ever so much for putting these videos on here,I'm sure you are helping a lot of people including myself! x

when i try to do this step faster, it feels like i am just stepping in place and not moving to the side anymore, how can i fix this?

When you move faster you movements will automatically become smaller. Your moves are probably very small and barely noticable.
If you feel comfortable with the move and it looks good in the mirror, then you are doing the move.
You might try loosening up the hips and perhaps placing the feet a bit further apart.

what do you mean loosening up the hips?

Let the hips swing naturally and not in a tense manner. Pulling the hip up will be tense, but loosen (relax) the hip when dropping down and sliding out.
