To be as blunt as possible religion as I see it provides structure for dumb people. Ultimately it does more harm then good. Enlighten oneself and think for yourself.

imma fundamentalist catholic christian. i go to catholic church every sunday and i love the church. i believe in ID (old earth creationism) and the resurrection of my lord and savior Jesus Christ. That having been said, Hitchens has always been my favorite intellectual and was the best writer, debater and public speaker the world has every seen. In a weird sort of way I see him as a gift from God to humanity as a way to get the world critically thinking once again.

What an utterly appalling world view you possess Hugh. If you derive the meaning of your life from your servantile relationship with your diety, I shall not begrudge you the solice of your self-imposed position of chattel; but do not for a moment believe I require such similar solice.

I take hope from the collective actions of world betterment, meaning from my personal contribution & acquisition of knowledge, and awe from the workings of nature. All grounded in reason and reality, no god needed
