Dude you're cool man! I been living in Taiwan for a year and just got back to US this month! Taiwanese are nice! Learning Mandarin in one of those universities really help improve my language competency. By the way how did you end up meeting your current wife? She's cool too!

The symbole is called swastika or wan in Mandarin, originally from India.
In TW, it is often used to represent buddism, temples on maps, or vegetarian.
It also reprents vegatarian because a lot of ppl become vegetarians in TW due to thier religious believe of buddism or taoism.
