  • Thanks for the 2 Balanchine clips. It's the first I've seen these ballets. Please post more. Forget the trolls. You're a great group.

  • What is that music that starts @ 1:30?

  • Welcome to neo-classical ballet. The requirement, especially with Balanchine, who was every inch a musician, is to dance to the music and not have the music simply accompany the dance. If you listen to a concert version of the 3rd mvt you will hear the concert tempo. If they at least attempted to split the difference it would be better. Hence my feeling that it is rather slow. I am intimately aware of the requirements both technical and physical in classical and neo-classical ballet.

  • The third movement is the fastest. Which is the difficulty because you are so tired at this point it's hard to step it up

  • Difficult for sure but do-able, especially at that speed. It was originally made on students and premiered on 29 May, 1941, so it should be well within the abilities of today's dancers. It is the two principal girls that are not together or more precisely the woman to the right of the screen. Having said that, I do admire much about this clip and these dancers. Well schooled and rehearsed. I just feel it could be quicker, this being the third movement.

  • I've performed all three movements... it's very difficult... and yes they aren't all together

  • Concerto Barocco -- ~~~yawn~~~ seems a bit on the slow side. Even at that speed they aren't all that together. Pity.
