In his second inaugural address, President Reagan speaks on broader themes (such as freedom, liberty, and democracy) as well as more concrete concerns, like the state of the economy and America's relationship with the world.

  • those were golden years...thank you ronald reagan

  • While I was a young man back when Reagan was President, I always knew we had someone special in the White House, someone I looked up to, someone I was PROUD to have as my President. I can still remember watching Reagan's farwell address in '89 thinking how good we had it and whether I'd ever have a President that good again.

    I'm still waiting.

  • @lauraleesmithagain I don't know if you got your answer already but that was the "A Time for Choosing" speech that he gave for Barry Goldwater back in the 60's. you can easily find it on here.

  • What was the speech where Reagan spoke about the Cuban immigrant that said at least he had somewhere to go?

  • I'm happy for all of the people saying the Reagan years were golden years. That's nice.

I just wish that the poor and minorities could say the same.

  • @Seastorm21 EVERYONE gets richer when the free market is allowed to work. It is the DEMOCRATS and the liberal Republicans who vote in regulations that strangle the small business man. The Mega-corporations LIKE those laws because they are big enough to absorb the extra costs - and it eliminates the competition they get from the smaller businesses. If you don't like the big corps, you should not vote for liberals.

  • @knobbyz Um, those bankers were responding to government regulations that forced them and government incentives that rewarded them for doing exactly what they did. The liberals PAID them to make those loans - virtually GUARANTEEING them a profit. Government interference was what caused the bankers to do what they did.

  • Oddly, conservatives put this man on a pedal stool, yet aside from his economic policy, he would probably be too left to even run as a republican today. Modern conservatives make me cringe, I wish they could take a more respectable form like Reagan.

  • Do you see inattentive BUSH 1 ? The elitism just pulsing out his ears with him thinking (what moronic drivel is coming out of Ronnies mouth). Seems to me the two succeeding Presidents that undid most of the good that Reagan did were liberal Republicans and not Democrats.

  • I was too consumed with my own life and problems at the time to know what we had in our hands...all I knew was that I was working a lot of overtime and making more money than I had ever made before. I didn't have sense enough to realize that it was because of President Reagan. I look at my Social Security report and see that during his administration, my earnings were not taxed by him. God forgive my ignorance, and give us someone like him again. Please?
