For weeks on end, the Queen of Halloween and the King of the Snowmen have been preparing their grand Horrorween event. Under the cover of night, the evil Queens minions have been working constantly at a shrine while all of Kryta is asleep. What are they up to?

  • We used a physics simulation for Malafide's cloak, and for all the rain effects. For the bonedragon at the end, he actually has water dripping down his head as well (a lot of effort on something that is not visible at all) and we remixed the sound of normal bonedragons roaring, with part of the Great Destroyer's roar to make it sound more epic. For the final shot of Malafide, we lighted her face through a slit so only part of her face (mostly the eyes) would be lit.

  • The close up on the lion statue is actually an obscure reference to the opening shot of Ghostbusters, and it even uses an extract from the Ghostbuster 2 soundtrack right at the start. The vortex is a 3d element, super imposed on ingame footage with a distortion effect, and masked into the background. This Horrorween focussed more on Malafide's story, and so does this teaser. Malafide wanted to conjure a gateway back to her own world (that is what you see them doing, also during the event itself)

  • People had commented that the last video was a bit too cute. So we figured we'd go back to a more darker Halloween tone (while staying with the Disney feeling). We know people like epicness, so what's more epic than Malafide opening a vortex in the sky aye? It was very tricky to combine ingame footage with 3d rendered elements, and also make it rain on surfaces that are from the recorded ingame footage. As you might have noticed, the minions walk behind the shrine too. That was very tricky.

  • Firstly Gz on winning! Are you still using Max's standard biped? or have you switched over to 2011's amazing animation stuff yet? :P I've done some animation with Guild Wars charcters myself and honnestly couldnt go back to using the old biped. Other than that, keep up the amazing work!

  • @Christheodosius I use both the traditional biped (with my own modifications), and custom made bone chains. I haven't got 2011 yet, but all I can say is, about time they came up with a better system. Oh and thanks, I'm glad you like my work.

  • how could this have won seriously nice joke

  • @Divinechili Wow.... no thanks for making this and hosting one of the biggest GW community Halloween events along with it? No congratulations? You just came over here to show your discontent?....

  • I saw the first comment and was like 'aha, there is going to be nothing but PRAISE for this sheer epic video.' *Scrolls down* What was wrong with those other guys complaining about it? Like seriously, did youtube just send them to a wrong video or something? I for one love it and I can't even imagine how long it must have taken you. It reminds me a bit of final fantasy + Zelda, which is an awesome combination :P Grats on winning!

  • Welk lettertype heb je gebruikt?

  • Some very clever editing/effects there, gratz on the win, cool movie :)
