To be fair, Clark Kent went around with nothing but a pair of glasses for 70+ years and yet somehow no one ever manages to figure out he's really Superman. In spite of his #1 villain supposedly being a genius who has interacted with Clark Kent on a regular basis.

It's a story convention. Much like how so many sci-fi aliens seem to look like humans and speak English, it tends to be a fantasy convention that whenever someone puts on a mask, they become completely unrecognizable.

I love this movie but at the same Time it's amazing how dumb they are. Zorro 's voice is the same in and out of costume doesn't change and yet they don't reconize who Zorro is. Even in costume you can tell who it really is. I guess wearing a costume makes people blind as a bat. LOL
