486.1 KMPH! World's fastest train in commercial use

December 3, 2010, the CSR(China Southern Railway) groups's "Harmony" 380A, the new generation high-speed railway motor car operating between Beijing and Shanghai, achieved maximum speed of 486.1 km per hour. On September 28 of last year, the Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway achieved the speed of 416.6 km per hour, and this record was broken again by today's Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway. Once again, the Chinese high-speed railway set the record of world's FASTEST train in commercial use.

China continuously refresh the world's record of fastest train, which is the testimonial of China's No.1 leading position in developing high-speed railway in the world.

MOR's deputy chief engineer Zhang Shuguang said, "Harmony is the world's fastest and technology advanced high-speed train, designed and built by Chinese company, comfortable, intelligent passenger interfaces, and other aspects of the innovation has reached world leading level.

Some foreign press like Japanese spoke about the worries about the safety of Chinese High-speed trains. CSR's engineer explained that there is one very important technical safety indicators called the derailment coefficient, which is must be less than 0.8 derailment coefficient to be safe. And the Harmony train's derailment coefficient is less than 0.1, way less than 0.8. The truth is that since China's first high-speed train was put into the commercial use years ago, all the high-speed train running in China are safe are comfortable.

Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway is the world's longest and most advanced high-speed railway, runs through Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, 7 provinces and cities, connecting the two Bohai Sea and the Yangtze River Delta economic zone, total length of 1318 km. This is nearly half of China's land coverage and the travel time between China's most important political city capital Beijing and most important economic city Shanghai has been cut down to only 4 hours from used-to-be 12 hours!

Until today, China is operating 7531 km long high-speed railway, ranking first in the world. China has owns world's most advanced high-speed railway system technology, most powerful integration capability, longest operating mileage, fastest speed, the largest building project in the world. So far China has 1,000 high-speed railway cars operating and has carried millions passengers.

According to long-term railway network building plan, by 2020, China's high-speed railway mileage will reach 120,000 kilometers or more. Among them, the new high-speed railway will reach 16,000 km above; plus other new and existing line speed rail lines, fast passenger railway network in China will reach more than 5 million km, connecting 50 million people in all provincial capitals and covering 90% of the population.

Have you been to China? They don't build trains to starve people. They build trains to move people around. Trains are more affordable and they can move more people than airplanes. You why know China is so poor, it because of foreign invasion in the 19th and 20th century. The commies are the one that revive their economy to what they are now today. @Thegus0 Its not a disaster, happened to the pendolino, ICE, TGV as well in the beginning phase. It should not happen but it does happen. However, once the beginning phase is done, these trains will be as secure as the one here in Europe. I am confident in Chinas program, its a huge and challenging effort and China does an astonishing job so far in co-op with Siemens. They learn fast and Siemens is the leading company in that busieness.
