Alpha 10 Max AM-1000 Audio Test/Comparison AM & SSB - Roger Beep - Echo

http://www.cbradiomagazine.com In this video is an on-air audio test of the Alpha 10 Max AM-1000 radio on AM and SSB and compare it vs. a RCI-2950DX.

There are also have some examples of the roger beep adjustments (both length and tone can be adjusted). A short clip of the echo is also shown.

My apologies for the loud background noise - recently some external electrical interference has developed at the receiving station.

Hello cbradiomagazine, we these test performed with the stock setting of the ALPHA 10 ? For me the ALPHA 10 sounded much better in AM with the powermike than the Ranger. The Ranger sounded overmodulated.

@zeproo - Both radios had no mods, modulation pots adjusted to maximum. For my videos I show modulation at maximum to overemphasize the audio for the video. In previous videos when I ran radios at 80-100% modulation people always asked "is that as loud as it will sound?" so I decided to show radios at max for examples and of course operators can choose to run them at a lower audio level.

For the RCI-2950DX in the video I normally run the mic gain at 12'oclock, in the video it's at maximum.

wow the echo is awesome on it yeah i think it needs more modulation boost though and maybe add a modulator on it or something i dont understand why they didnt add a mic gain on it its like the voyager 9000 it also dont have a mic gain on it aswell allthough the audio is good with a power mic what i dont know is what color of the wire that has to be cut to use different mics on it

i have another question, does it drift on ssb like a galaxy or stays in place like a 2950?

both sound good on ssb by the looks of it but the AM doesn't sound all that great. the echo on that radio sounds pretty good. better then a 158edx

awesome sound the alpha 10 max am 1000 is has better audio them the 2950 but they are pretty close in audio the echo is pretty sweet i like to hear how the receive is sounding like and the sentiviity of the receieve see if it has pretty good ears on it

The Alpha 10 Max sounds really good. I know I have heard a lot of mixed feelings about the Alpha 10 Mini so I was curious as to how well the Max would do. Seems to be a pretty nice radio.
