On May 3rd, journalists, advocates, and citizens across the globe will be celebrating World Press Freedom Day, calling attention to the continual limits placed on free and balanced media. Despite countless laws and codes guaranteeing humans the right to the freedom of expression and information, hundreds of working journalists are jailed or killed each year, simply for wanting to tell the truth.
A global issue, a global problem; the Centre for Independent Journalism in Malaysia asks "What does press freedom mean to you?" We all must answer this question if we hope to change things for the better.
Join CIJ at the Annexe in Central Market, Kuala Lumpur, on May 3rd and 4th for day-long events and discussions on the road to media freedom.
