Shot from the cockpit, This is a "Windscreen eye's view" of an approach into Melbourne Airport is occasionally punctuated by ERC, STAR, VOR/DME APP and Ground charts with a red arrow showing the rough location of the aircraft at the time. Sound from PMDGs 737 and a random "A320" retardation sound replaces the original due to some problems with the original audio.

  • @vicarexar Available free on their website. Though I guess ERSA would have it too.

  • @musicalaviator you using the ERSA issue right?

  • @musicalaviator

My airservices book is probaly out of date then... The one i looked at was valid in 5 June 2008. Time to go to Parafield and the next issue......

  • @vicarexar Incorrect. Take a look at Airservices Australia AIP. YMML has the following procedure listed and charted: ILS-X (CAT II & III) RWY 16

from the melbourneairport com media release "The New Cat III ILS will allow a number of aircraft to land in foggy conditions at the airport where visibility is down to as low as 75 metres, down from at least 800m previously."

The Current airservices chart is dated 3 JUN 2010, although I can find reference to it being available before April.

  • @cubes887

YMML only has a CAT II system....

  • Very nice approach. My favorite RWY34!! ILS is too easy.

Hey by the way, Melbourne airport has a Cat3 landing system..

What does that mean? is it autoland function in heavy fog?

  • Hmmm... I won't put it that way, but perhaps I shouldve used "GLIDEPATH"
