i couldn't disagree more with your second paragraph. i've taken shit from all 3 groups for things i've said about them (well, in the case of Judiasm, i haven't said anything ever, cos i don't know much about it. but i have pissed some Jewish people off with certain videos critical of Israel).
do you perceive me as sympathetic to Islam? that's interesting, since i'm the guy who came up with the draw muhammad thing before anyone else. 'have you seen this man?' didn't make me popular with muslims.

@gothatfunk Well if you think "Islam" is going to suddenly change, or Muslims are going to agree to the writing of the "New Qur'an" to ensure the infidel are seen somehow as "equals", well then I don't know what to tell you. Islamic doctrine is clear, the unbelievers are never to be trusted or taken as friends or protectors, unless it is a means to further the Islamic doctrine, in Islam there is absolutely no compromise. So if making a satirical drawing of a tyrant offends them, that's too bad.

Let's all promote a "Draw thunderf00t day" on teh same day :)

Kind of makes me regret that when I was younger I followed the rules in R.E. class, the threat being we'd see the head teacher should we decide to draw Mohammad.
Good shirt though!

I would like to participate in DMD if i was great at painting. I would try to make a beautiful piece of Mohammed seeing Gabriel coming down from the sky or something, like all those classic christian paintings. Just to put a spin on it.

To continue something that does not have a purpose other than to antagonize and draw attention to the bigotry that is displayed by those doing it is beyond the bounds of civilized and decent protest. Draw Muhammad Day II is nothing more than an event to draw attention to the bigotry and prejudice displayed by those participating. We need dialogue to continue the fight against extremism and terrorism. If we continue on the path of antagonism of any religion we destroy any chance of dialogue.

a) "it attract bigots". so did the civil rights struggle,so is every peace rally. al muhajiroum was right next to socialists.so what?
b) "we made our point" apparently we didnt. jyland posten stuff is still terrorized. 4 terrorist attacks against them only last year.
c)"when there is a point to be made"? apparently there is.
c) "pocking a stick" is that yr advice 2 in concern to chinese oppression? lets easy our conscience with an event and then drop it?

@amet1980 well, i'm not trying to convince anyone not to participate, i'm explaining why i'm not. so these aren't really arguments i'm making, they are my personal reasons.
my feeling is that doing it annually makes it less of a statement, and more of an exercise.

Thinking that the Islamic censorship situation is somehow over after DMD is ridiculous. I understand your point of not wanting guilt by association with the hatred of Muslims, but Muslims are constantly calling for censorship, constantly calling for Sharia, constantly calling for the death of America, the UK and Israel. So they must get used to being constantly offended until they get the message.
One day and they are off the hook? Sorry, but pity is far too expensive these days.

@123backinyerface yeah, cos constantly offending people always gets them to see it your way.

While I agree with some of what you say I can see reasons for carrying on with it, if nothing else to have it be questioned. People who do not know what the day is about might ask questions to it, why it is there and so on and that would ultimately be a good long term benefit to freedom of speach, as a reminder for years to come what happens when you try to suppress that freedom and the power of that freedom. I hope you get my point, peace

@TheRenekruse i do get it, and i'm reminded of Gay Pride marches. why do *them* every year? the answer would be that until LGBT's have 100% equal rights, and their sexuality was a complete non-issue, they should carry on.
i think criticism of Islam should carry on. i just don't think doing DMD annually has the potential to change hearts and minds, but rather entrench positions. i see some rationale for doing it, as there are still attempts at silencing critics of Islam, so, yeah, but not for me
