The only Green party MP in parliament, Caroline Lucas, gives her opinions on the proposal to have a referendum on being in or out of Europe. While she supports Europe, she also wants a referendum.

Recorded from BBC Parliament, EU Referendum Debate, 24 October 2011.

  • this is why I didn't vote green party in the election; her pro-globalist, pro-EU stance is revolting.

The majority want OUT of the EU, for many obvious reasons.

There are no real benefits to OUR country, from remaining in this failed, elitist project.

  • A 3 line whip to stop the majority of the British public from having their say in their future. Democracy is Britain is now dead.

  • @SteveFusionX Sorry , but we have vetoing powers in the council. Whether we have national referendums is a question that is to be decided by national governments , nothing to do with the EU. You should consider that some countries did profit greatly from the EU. Germany and the Benelux states for example were able to realise growth rates that were unimaginable before the treaty of Maastricht.

  • @MrDarudin

    Absurd.

You mention "democracy" several times (in both your comments) and how important democracy is, and being able to VOTE.

    Yet you are PRO-eu?!

EVERYTHING the EU stands for is AGAINST democracy.

The more powers given to brussels, the bigger the "government" is, the LESS say we have in our own country. There is nothing democractic about the EU.

It's a revolting mess, run by unelected bureaucrats and is destroying once great, soverign nations.

  • @SteveFusionX "the majority want out of the EU" because they have no idea what is the truth and what is not. A lot of what the Daily Mail and co say is flat out incorrect. The EU provided dependable and prosperous trading partners with few barriers and provides fantastic human rights protection. In the US you are allowed to be stopped and searched, imprisoned without trial. The fact you can't here is solely down to the EU. Its so embarrassing how poor our human rights protection is compared.

  • @SteveFusionX Doesn't change the fact that she wants us to be able to vote on it . Some people do fancy the idea of a peaceful social Europe whilst some others don't.... the only way to solve this question is through a free democratic referendum. Everything else amounts to an elected dictatorship. I for once would vote yes to staying in the EU but you would obviously have every right to disagree with me.

  • @MrDarudin

she's pro-EU, same as the other anti-british, globalist scum (Lib/Lab/CON)

IMO there's only one party whom has britains interests at heart: UKIP.

but of course the mainstream will never allow them to get into power.

We're stuck with the complacent, apathetic "ConDems" whom will continue to siphon our laws and powers to brussels (despite cameron pretending to be "euro-skeptic" before he got in)

  • @SteveFusionX Which is why she advocates a referendum. You can't get more democratic than that.

  • @FreddyTheJumpingCat Vote UKIP!

  • @SteveFusionX Vote UKIP!
