the sound in this game is even worse than what the original game boy could produce. Just atrocious...

@Raikov7654321 I agree. A company from Italy made the remake to R-TYPE 3 instead of IREM themselves, and that is a very big mistake.

My favorite shmup on my old Atari 1040ST. Also, loved it on SNES. But this GBA port.... :( Big let down. I would love it if they would make a decent R-Type game for the DS (without 3D!!!!!!!)

The audio in this port is just destroyed beyond disbelief. This is absolutely unforgivable... R-Type III was one of the greatest rail shooters to ever grace the SNES, why--HOW could they have possibly done this to its name?!

Wikipedia says this game's gba port was handed to a team who had no support or something.
As far GBA shmups go, I think Gradius Galaxies and Steel Empire are the best. Iridion is ok, but I don't fancy that much. But i'd also say the graohics are just mode7-like with a looping background, so in terms o tech. I don't think it's that great, though it does give a nice effect.
I really wished this game had had a better port/remake for GBA. =/

Even though the sound is crappy in this game, I'm curious if the mini-boss at Stage 4 is just regular boss music in the Gameboy version, or if there's a midi of that different music...

Now for the part of reaching boss 4... >___> In GBA version, only with save states. >__<
