@abrahmdevine The debt never went down. Neither did the deficit either, Congress just borrowed from Social Security under Clinton like they usually do. Of course if Bush and Congress didn't blow trillions on wars on top of the bail outs and medicare part D and other subsidies it would look a lot different now.
